JOB SUMMARY:
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides essential nursing care to patients undergoing withdrawal management from substance abuse. This role involves monitoring patients' health, administering medications, and supporting the overall treatment plan. This position involves communicating and collaborating with nurses, medical providers and other members of the interdisciplinary treatment team and communicating effectively with patients and their loved ones. LPNs follow the scope of practice guidelines and all ethical and moral guidelines and maintain timely and accurate documentation.

DUTIES OF THE POSITION:
The duties of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
1) History and Physical Information Gathering
· Gather initial history and physical information from new clients.
· Communicate with the registered nurse to assist with completing new client intakes.
· Document information accurately and in a timely manner.
· Collect and test urine samples to validate recent substance use.
2) Medication Administration
· Administer and document prescribed medications and monitor patients for any adverse reactions.
· Educate patients about prescribed medications including effects and side effects.
3) Monitoring Patient Health
· Conduct rounding on an, up to, hourly basis of all clients in the medically monitored withdrawal management program.
· Collect vitals, document accurately, and report as needed to the medical provider.
· Follow any additional medical orders.
· Respond to medical emergencies and provide appropriate interventions.
4) Providing Support
· Ensure a safe and supportive environment for patients.
· Assist in identifying and addressing potential crises or emotional distress.
· Implement de-escalation techniques and provide immediate support as needed.
5) Collaboration and Communication
· Manage telephonic and email communications, addresses patient inquiries, and relays messages to the appropriate personnel.
· Work closely with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare staff to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
· Ability to understand, speak, read, write in English.
· Ability to prepare routine reports and correspondence in English.
· Effectively communicate/speak before groups of customers or employees.
· Work all hours required to fulfill job duties and responsibilities (including weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed).
· Ability to carry/lift boxes weighing between 10 and 25 pounds.
· Must be able to ascend and descend stairs regularly as part of daily job duties.
· Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
· Ensure credentials are maintained and up to date
· Practice specific competencies for persons diagnosed with substance use disorders
COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
· College or University
· High School Diploma, or equivalent
LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
· Current license and ability to practice:
o Licensed Practical Nurse
PRIOR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
· Advanced knowledge of the basic principles, philosophies, practices, and procedures involved at Armada Recovery.
· Advanced knowledge of individual and group behaviors and the effective ways of working with people to transition to on-going recovery
· Knowledge of tools to establish rapport with clients establishing a therapeutic alliance
· Understanding Cultural Competence and how to successfully work with others from various cultures and backgrounds, as evident by demonstrating the ability to work with diverse groups.
· Significant knowledge of withdrawal management protocols.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Strong understanding of office administrator responsibilities, systems, and procedures.

· Excellent organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize workload.
