Membership Data Intern

Membership and Data Management Internship – Summer 2026
Location: Hybrid (Washington, D.C.); fully remote in July and August
Schedule: Part-time, ASAP through early August
Hourly Rate: $20.00-22.00
Weekly Hours: 20 hours

 

The Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) Membership Department seeks a detail-oriented membership and data management intern to support data integrity, maintenance, and entry within our membership database. This role is ideal for a college student or recent graduate interested in data administration, nonprofit operations, CRM systems, or business analytics. The intern will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and usability of member records that support organizational programs, communications, and reporting. This is a summer internship position with a flexible start date and a projected end in early August.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enter, update, and maintain membership data in the organization’s database/CRM
  • Review records for accuracy, completeness, and consistency
  • Perform data cleanup, deduplication, and validation activities
  • Assist with processing new member applications, renewals, and status changes
  • Support data imports from forms, spreadsheets, and external sources
  • Generate basic reports and lists for membership outreach and analysis
  • Help document data procedures and best practices
  • Assist with special data projects as assigned
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive member information

 

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets and Microsoft Word
  • Ability to manage repetitive tasks with consistency
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information responsibly
  • Quick learner, self-starter, and someone who doesn’t mind repetition when it serves a mission

 

Preferred Areas of Study (but not required):

  • Experience with databases or CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, iMIS, etc.)
  • Familiarity with data quality principles
  • Interest in nonprofit or association management
