Summer Youth Program Assistant

PROSPECTIVE SCHEDULE:

2-5 Days a week: 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
You may be asked to participate in meetings and events with parents and/or staff. Your schedule may change based on needs.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
The Summer Youth Program Assistant work at the Center will be supervised by: Marcel Gabbett, Ermeyas Samuel, Junie Arcene. 

Your Direct Supervisor is Marcel Gabbett.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
You will be expected to devote your efforts to performing services for the youth Summer Program. The following is a comprehensive breakdown of the role:

MAJOR FUNCTION:
Be responsible for providing assistance during Summer Program activities, as the Summer Youth Program Assistant.  Provide direct supervision and facilitation of summer activities for youth.  Provide periodic reporting to direct supervisors regarding activities and plans.  Organize showcases of youth programs when necessary.  Enforce program rules and maintain an educationally friendly atmosphere.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develop activities for students and assist them in collaborative learning teams as needed.
2. Assist students with e-learning tools. In other words, coach students in
identifying computer-based resources to assist with their education.
3. Assist with arts and craft activities, etc.

4. Engage/coach in physical activities and sports.
5. Provide frequent and positive feedback to students regarding their abilities and progress.
6. Encourage students to continue striving towards academic excellence.

7. Create fun and engaging projects that enhance academic and artistic interests.

COMPENSATION:

This summer internship is unpaid. However, we have had success in helping students earn credits or achieve certain requirements they might have for their major. The supervisors of this position are more than happy to help with any write-ups, meetings or such that are needed in order for the interns to maximize their return from this position.
