We aim to provide quality instructional practices and programs for each student to improve student performance.

The Yvonne B. Miller School is seeking a qualified Mathematics Teacher to provide quality educational programs through sound instruction to meet the individual needs of residents/students, as well as the standards defined under the Commonwealth’s statutes and program certification requirements. The incumbent will: engage students in learning by using a variety of instructional strategies to meet individual learning needs, systematically gather, analyze, and use all relevant data to measure student academic progress, and guide instructional content and delivery methods to provide timely feedback to both student and parents throughout the school year.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in mathematics. Knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials, and equipment to successfully perform the work. Ability to supervise students and youth, facilitate appropriate classroom management, and maintain accurate records. Must possess or be eligible for a Virginia Teaching Certificate/License with an endorsement(s) in mathematics.

Additional Considerations

In addition to the minimum requirements, experience as a mathematics teacher in a secondary setting will be considered. Experience teaching at-risk youth is desired. Graduate degree is beneficial. Knowledge of DJJ and DHRM policies and procedures.
