Middlesex County STEM Charter School (MCSCS) is a public school serving grades Kindergarten through 8th grades and open to all students who reside in the City of Perth Amboy. The school is free to all students and families and is a replication of the Central Jersey College Prep Charter School, a recipient of the 2016 Blue-Ribbon Award and other prestigious awards.

Reading/ELA Interventionist Teacher
Responsibilities Include:
- Supporting literacy development by providing targeted interventions to students struggling with reading.
- Observe students in their natural learning environments to gain insights into their behaviors, interests, and specific needs.
- Conducting assessments to evaluate students' academic and reading skills, identifying areas for improvement.
- Designing individualized lesson plans tailored to each student's unique needs, promoting their literacy growth.
- Providing one-on-one tutoring to students requiring additional support with reading and academic tasks.
- Collaborating with teachers, parents, and administrators to regularly communicate student progress, strategies, and goals
- Utilizing evidence-based strategies such as phonics instruction and an understanding of language structure to improve reading comprehension.
- Facilitate group reading instruction for students with similar reading challenges, fostering peer learning.
- Offer enrichment or remedial activities focusing on key reading skills like phonics, fluency, and comprehension strategies.
- Developing targeted intervention plans using a variety of instructional methods and materials to enhance students' reading abilities.
- Engage in continuous professional development to stay informed on the latest educational best practices and advancements in Language Arts education.
Essential Duties:
- Communicates responsibly with students, parents/guardians, colleagues, and school leadership;
- Accounts for student attendance and punctuality;
- Follows all county, state, and federal policies and procedures;
- Follows professional ethics in all work-related activities;
Additional Responsibilities:
- Prepares adequately for responsibilities to be assumed when absent;
- Facilitates home-school communication by such means as holding conferences, telephoning, and sending written communication;
- Integrates appropriate technology into classroom instruction;
- Avoids behaviors which detract from staff morale;
- Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Proven communication and instructional strategies;
- Classroom management skills;
- Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing;
- Excellent organizational skills.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university;
- Valid NJ CE, CEAS, or Standard Teacher Certification;
- NJ Criminal History;
- Work authorization in the U.S.;
- Tuberculosis Test;
- Experience is a plus.
