Electronic Services Assistant Division Commander

The Electronic Services Division (ESD) supports all goals, most directly sustain and enhance agency infrastructure and business processes, by improving collaboration outcomes between WSP business and technology divisions, using consistent planning processes, increasing business continuity capabilities, and providing quality communication services statewide. ESD maintains a statewide Public Safety Grade Land Mobile Radio System (LMR), microwave and Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) network, and the agency’s voice and data wide and local area networks (LAN/WAN). ESD directly partners with the Information Technology Division (ITD) to sustain, evolve, and improve the agency’s technology infrastructure.
Duties
The Assistant Division Commander reports directly to the Division Commander and is responsible for the daily operations of the division including planning, leading, organizing, and controlling the quality of services provided by the division. This position assists in strategic and tactical planning, budgeting, and developing agency Information Technology policies and procedures as related to LMR, microwave, network, and telephony systems. In the absence of the Division Commander, this position assumes primary responsibility to direct, control, and manage the operations and resources of the division. This position is responsible for ensuring that all IT and safety policies, procedures, standards, and best practices are implemented and followed by ESD personnel.
Our new teammate will be able to:
- Oversee the ESD Wireless Engineering, Network Engineering, Field Support Sections, and Fiscal Analyst
- Assigns and reviews work for the Section Manager Positions.
- Sets goals, objectives, and expectations and completes evaluations as required.
- Ensures compliance with best practices, applicable policies of the agency, and legislative and administrative mandates (RCW, WAC).
- Ensures program objectives are met and business requirements are satisfied.
- Serves as technical mentor, coach, and trainer to subordinates.
- Ensures Lean process improvements in respective Programs.
- Provides opportunity for employee growth and development through formal and informal training.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in an Information Technology or business management field (or closely related field).
- Working experience in an enterprise IT/Radio/Network management field may be substituted for education year for year.
- 4 years’ experience as a supervisor, manager or project manager in an IT enterprise organization.
