Staff Geologist for Geotechnical Department
The Staff Geologist plays a key role in delivering high-quality technical work across a wide range of geotechnical and environmental projects. This position is ideal for someone who loves being outdoors, enjoys hands-on problem-solving, and wants to apply their academic training in real-world field conditions. You’ll receive extensive practical training to build on your educational foundation while gaining experience with drilling operations, soil and rock logging, sampling, and field inspections.

Responsibilities
- Assist in field investigations, sample collection, and data recording.
- Conduct basic laboratory tests on soil, rock and other related materials.
- Support the preparation of maps, figures, and technical reports.
- Follow established research methods and data collection procedures.
- Ensure work complies with safety, ethical, and environmental regulations.
- Stay informed on fundamental geological and engineering concepts and practices.
- Provide field and office support to senior staff on active projects
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or related field.
- 0–2 years of relevant experience (internships or academic fieldwork preferred).
- Basic knowledge of geology, chemistry, physics, biology, and mathematics.
- Willingness to travel to field sites and work in outdoor environments.
- Strong attention to detail and eagerness to learn.
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Fundamentals of Geology (FG) certification required, working toward Professional Geologist (PG) if applicable by state.
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification and current 8-hour refresher (if applicable).
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, field logging software, and GIS tools preferred.
- Working knowledge of environmental regulations, remediation strategies, and site investigation techniques.
- Experience leading field crews and completing Phase I/II ESAs, soil/groundwater sampling, and data interpretation.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare regulatory reports and coordinate with subcontractors and clients.
- Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
