Entry Level Civil Engineer
Cooper Engineering Company, Inc., an employee-owned civil engineering firm in Rice Lake,
WI, is seeking a full-time civil engineer to assist with engineering projects serving public and private clients throughout northwestern and north central Wisconsin. Located in the heart of Wisconsin’s Northwoods, Rice Lake offers exceptional quality of life with year-round outdoor recreation, a growing regional medical hub, two public colleges, and a vibrant arts community.
Successful applicants will join a team of experienced professionals working in our Rice Lake office, delivering practical, community-focused engineering solutions. Projects include municipal infrastructure, site development, transportation improvements, and related civil works primarily in northwestern Wisconsin and occasionally in nearby states.
Responsibilities
- Apply engineering principles to design projects
- Prepare and review construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates
- Collaborate with clients, regulatory agencies, and contractors
- Attend municipal meetings as necessary
- Provide construction oversight support and project administration
- Ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within budget
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field
- Ability to obtain a Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in Wisconsin within a reasonable timeframe
- Demonstrated knowledge of civil engineering design, survey, and construction principles and practices
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with AutoCAD C3D strongly preferred
- Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills
- Possess leadership, strong problem-solving skills, and ability to make decisions
- Knowledge of Wisconsin laws, policies, procedures, and systems regarding the civil engineering industry
- Attention to detail
- Valid driver’s license required
- Ability to work outside when necessary and lift 25 pounds
- Project management and/or construction experience preferred

Cooper Engineering offers competitive compensation, vacation and sick time, insurance benefits, 401(k), ESOP participation, and a professional, supportive work environment. Compensation ($30.00 - $40.00+ per hour or salaried equivalent) will be commensurate with licensure, experience, and responsibilities.
