Job Title: Laboratory – Histology Technician Location: Syracuse, NY Facility: Upstate University Hospital Pay Rate: $55.00 – $60.00 per hour Shift: Day Shift – 5x8 Hours Schedule: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM Start Date:March 23, 2026 Job Summary Upstate University Hospital is seeking a skilled Histology Technician to support laboratory operations within the histology department. The technician will be responsible for preparing tissue specimens for microscopic examination by performing embedding, microtomy, staining, and slide preparation while ensuring adherence to laboratory quality standards and safety protocols. Minimum Requirements ● Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Histotechnology, Medical Laboratory Technology, or related field ● HT (ASCP) or HTL (ASCP) certification preferred ● Minimum 2 years of histology laboratory experience ● Experience with microtomy, embedding, and tissue processing ● Knowledge of histological staining techniques including H&E and special stains ● Strong understanding of laboratory safety and quality control procedures ● Resume required for submission Key Responsibilities ● Prepare and process tissue specimens for microscopic examination ● Perform embedding, sectioning, and microtomy of tissue samples ● Conduct routine and special histological staining procedures ● Operate and maintain histology laboratory equipment including microtomes and tissue processors ● Ensure accurate labeling, documentation, and specimen tracking ● Maintain quality control standards and laboratory compliance ● Collaborate with pathologists and laboratory staff to support diagnostic processes
