Resident Camp Unit Lead
Job Summary:
This position requires the development and implementation of all aspects of staff supervision, age-appropriate programming and communication with campers. The Unit Leader also works with all members of the Leadership Team to provide ample, constant support to the unit counselors.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned)
Attend mandatory staff training and up to two pre-camp planning meetings with the Camp Director.
Participate in the planning and conducting of pre-camp training, including training counseling staff, and fellow administrative staff in their responsibilities and respective roles.
Attend and contribute to staff meetings throughout the summer.
Supervise a pod of Counselors, as assigned, to whom you will provide weekly feedback.
Review all weekly schedules from Unit at the beginning of the program.
Participate in the planning and conducting of pre-camp training, including training counseling staff, and fellow administrative staff in their responsibilities and respective roles.
Oversee and assist with development of overnight themed programming within the unit, including but not limited to developing a resource area available to staff with a variety of age-appropriate activities.
Act as a leader and role model to other staff members through enthusiastic participation in all camp programming.
Be the Unit liaison to the Nurse, Specialists & other staff.
Cover unit staff evenings off, rest hours off, and any and all other time-off as assigned.
Keep the Leadership Program Director and Camp Director regularly informed of staff performance, morale and conflicts. This includes reporting any incidents or accidents.
Understand and help staff follow Emergency Action Plans and adherence to NYS Department of Health Guidelines and GS Safety Activity Checkpoints.
Assist with weekly camp clean up, including sweeping, mopping, sanitizing, trash pick- up, etc.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
The Unit Leader supervises the Camp Counselors assigned. The Unit Leader also supervises campers.
