Legal Assistant/Case Intake Coordinator
McGavin, Boyce, Bardot, Thorsen & Katz, a civil litigation firm in Fairfax, Virginia, is seeking to hire a Legal Assistant/Case Intake Coordinator. Time will be split approximately 50/50 between these tasks. The Legal Assistant role will be for a senior partner and requires the ability to timely and accurately prepare and file legal pleadings in state and federal courts, draft correspondence, schedule meetings and other matters, assist with billing and perform other tasks as requested. The senior partner practices in state and federal courts throughout Virginia and occasionally in Maryland. The Case Intake Coordinator role requires the ability to promptly process new cases that the firm receives from clients. This includes checking for conflicts, determining any critical impending deadlines, setting up the files, and acknowledging or declining the assignments with clients. This position entails working with all lawyers in the firm and their staff.
Qualifications strongly desired and/or required: substantial secretarial experience, with experience in the legal field, adept at using Word, transcription experience and strong organizational skills. Familiarity with Virginia and Maryland litigation (state and federal) and Virginia Workers’ Compensation practice strongly preferred.
