Property Management Intern

About Newport
Newport is a large waterfront residential community in Jersey City consisting of multiple residential buildings and mixed use properties. The Property Management team supports the day to day management of the residential portfolio with a focus on operational efficiency, resident experience, and continuous improvement.


General Summary
The Residential Operations Intern will support the Property Management team with operational analysis, reporting, and administrative coordination across the residential portfolio. This internship is designed to function similarly to an analyst role with focus on inventory and assets providing exposure to property management operations, facilities coordination, and portfolio level reporting. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.


Essential Responsibilities
Operational Analysis: Assist in reviewing operational data and reports to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities to improve efficiency across the residential portfolio.


Process and Performance Review: Support the team in evaluating operational workflows including inspections, maintenance activity, and move in readiness to help identify areas for process improvement.


Reporting and Data Organization: Utilize Microsoft Excel and HappyCo/Yardi data to organize reports, track operational metrics, and assist with the preparation of summaries for internal review.


Administrative and Project Support: Provide administrative support to the Property Management team including maintaining operational trackers, organizing documentation, and assisting with coordination of operational tasks and initiatives.


Special Projects: Assist with projects focused on improving operational efficiency, improving resident satisfaction at Move-In and consistency across properties. Interns will present a summary of their observations and recommendations at the conclusion of the internship.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Real Estate, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
    Strong written and verbal communication skills.
