Role Description
We’re seeing an AutoCAD Drafter who will support the Engineering team by producing accurate, high‑quality technical documentation used in system design and project execution. This role focuses on creating detailed drawings, system files, and engineering evaluations while maintaining precision, consistency, and timely delivery within established service-level expectations.
This position is based on-site at our Corporate headquarters in Somerville, New Jersey.
What You'll Do:
Draft and modify technical drawings in AutoCAD based on engineering specifications and client needs.
Utilize dynamic blocks and maintain consistent drawing standards across all projects.
Implement LISP routines and other automation tools to improve efficiency in drafting tasks.
Review, revise, and quality-check engineering documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Organize and manage project files systematically to allow easy access and revisions.
Communicate effectively with engineers and team members to clarify specifications and resolve drafting related issues.
Work within established CAD standards, templates, and workflows.
Maintain a structured digital file system for easy retrieval and reference.
Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to streamline drafting processes.
Education
HS diploma/GED or an associate degree in design modeling/drafting preferred.
Technical school or coursework in drafting (helpful but not required).
A bachelor’s degree in engineering can be very helpful but is not required
Experience
Experience working in fast‑paced environments with short turnaround times.
Experience coordinating with engineering teams.
Architectural and MEP drafting experience a plus.
Skills
Workable knowledge of AutoCAD, Microsoft, Adobe, Salesforce (or similar task‑based software), and paint software.
Helpful but not required: Revit, Inventor, SolidWorks, Microsoft Excel.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standardized drafting procedures.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with teams.
Willingness to adapt to new systems and continue learning relevant software.
