Part-time Junior High Teacher - Summer Employment

Outreach is hiring a Part-time Junior High Teacher at Outreach Warrenville to support students academically and develop life skills during our summer program. 


Schedule

  • Staff Training – June 1 to June 5 (MANDATORY)
  • Program Dates – June 8 to July 31
  • Program Schedule – Monday to Friday, 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Responsibilities

  • The Part-time Junior High Teacher will be a member of the QUEST team and work with the Junior High Program Coordinator to build relationships with and facilitate learning for junior high students grades 6-8 during the summer program in the Warrenville community.
  • The Part-time Junior High Teacher's duties include classroom instruction, facilitating service-learning activities, life skills instruction, recreational activities, and working with the staff team to supervise students on weekly field trips throughout the summer. Additional responsibilities include record keeping and transporting students as needed.
  • The Part-time Junior High Teacher will support parent communication and maintain Outreach's standard of classroom behavior during program time.

 

Requirements

  •  BA in Education or a related field.
  • A passion for working with junior high students.
  • Classroom or group experience with adolescents.
  • Previous classroom teaching or group experience.
  • Previous experience with curriculum development and lesson planning is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with and sensitivity to the needs of students from low-income, high-risk families.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/ English) is a plus.
  • A current, valid IL driver's license, along with a good driving record, is required.
  • A commitment to Outreach's Statement of Mission & Faith.
