General Summary

 

$13.22- $15.43

Under close supervision, performs entry level clerical work following standardized, well defined departmental office procedures. May perform the following tasks depending on the assigned area: maintains filing systems for departmental records and documents, types, proofreads, answers phones, does data entry, copying and mail processing, assists in basic record keeping and calculation assignments, copy’s and/or performs other routine clerical work as assigned. Utilizes current county-wide and/or department specific software to complete assignments.

 

Minimum Qualifications

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

 

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Must be at least 16 years old.

 

Locates and gathers specific files and documents as needed or requested to ensure timely information retrieval for a variety of departmental needs.

 

Types a variety of materials, including memos, letters, records, and reports.  Also proofreads and makes Xerox copies of these materials when requested.

 

Answers the telephone and records messages for department personnel, responds to employee or public inquiries, and directs questions or problems to the proper party.

 

Addresses, folds, and inserts mail in various envelopes and packages; sorts and distributes mail and other departmental materials and assists in ordering of necessary supplies and materials for department as requested by staff.

 

Utilizes a variety of office equipment such as computers, faxes, calculators and copying machines.

 

Utilizes current county-wide and/or department specific software to complete assignments.

 

ADDITIONAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Assists in reviewing, certifying, indexing, and filing alphabetically, numerically, or according to business matter, departmental documents, reports, and records.

 

Performs basic calculations and verifies numerical accuracy of departmental reports. 

 

ESSENTIAL MENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

Ability to communicate, file documents for long periods of time, operate office equipment, and handle office supplies. 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

Work is performed in a typical office environment.
