Finance Intern

Overview: 

We are looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Finance Intern to join our team at Urban Farmer. This internship is to start ASAP and will run through mid-August. In this role, you will assist with data interpretation, financial analysis, and reporting to support strategic decision-making. You will gain hands-on experience in financial management and analysis, while helping maintain data accuracy and integrity to drive business growth.

 

Key Responsibilities:
Financial Data Analysis: Assist with analyzing financial data using statistical techniques and financial models to support business decisions.
Data Management: Help develop and maintain financial databases, ensuring data is collected and stored for easy access and analysis.
Trend Identification: Identify trends and patterns in financial data to guide decision-making and optimize business outcomes.
Report Generation: Assist in generating regular financial reports, including budget tracking, financial forecasting, and performance monitoring.
Process Improvement: Assist in identifying areas for process improvements and propose data-driven solutions to enhance financial efficiency.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with finance, product, and marketing teams to provide financial insights and support business needs.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Help with budget tracking and forecasting by analyzing spending patterns and financial performance.
Data Integrity and Security: Ensure the integrity and confidentiality of financial data by following established protocols and security measures.
Presentation of Findings: Assist in preparing financial presentations and reports for stakeholders, providing clear and actionable recommendations.

 

Qualifications:
Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial modeling tools. 
Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze financial data and interpret results for strategic decision-making.
Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail when working with financial data and reports.
Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills for presenting findings and collaborating with teams.
Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving abilities with a focus on financial optimization.
Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and take on new challenges.
Collaboration: Ability to work independently and as part of a team, contributing to projects and tasks.

Work Environment:

This position works in an office and a manufacturing environment with variable temperature and loud noises from machinery and equipment alarms. The incumbent will be exposed to loud noises and alarms from equipment and machinery.

 

Physical Demands

  • Prolonged Sitting: The Data Analyst will spend a significant portion of the workday sitting at a desk, analyzing data, and working on a computer.
  • Repetitive Motion: The role involves repetitive motions such as typing on a keyboard and using a computer mouse, which may require taking breaks for stretches.
  • Visual Focus: Extended periods of visual focus are required for working with data on computer screens and interpreting complex reports and visualizations.
  • Mobility: The Data Analyst may occasionally need to move around the office for meetings, discussions, or collaborative work with other teams.
