Human Resources Assistant
Overview:
Provides clerical and administrative support for payroll and personnel functions within the department. Responsibilities include processing and maintaining payroll and benefit records, updating confidential employee files, preparing reports, assisting employees with payroll and benefit inquiries, and ensuring compliance with county policies and union agreements. The role also involves handling financial transactions, maintaining employment records throughout the employee lifecycle, supporting special projects, and providing general front-desk assistance to the public and county staff.
Qualifications:
Associate degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Human Resources, or related field preferred. Experience in customer service, administrative support, or human resources
Knowledge & Skills:
Working knowledge of payroll processing and benefit accrual systems
Familiarity with personnel recordkeeping and employee lifecycle documentation
Understanding of union agreements and ability to apply contractual guidelines
Strong knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial transaction processing
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Word)
Experience with payroll or HRIS systems preferred
