Foundation Accounting Assistant - Spring/Summer 2026 - Work Study or Regular Pay
The Foundation Accounting Assistant - Student will help manage financial records, including document retention, and support other accounting projects as directed by the Foundation Accountant or Director of Finance. Title: Foundation Accounting Assistant - Student
Department: University Relations: UW-Whitewater Foundation
Office Hours and Location: Old Main Alumni Center, Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.
Hours and Compensation: Hourly wage: $11-$13/hr, Work Study or Regular Pay. Up to 20/hrs per week during the school year, and up to 40/hrs for summer
Key Responsibilities:
- Learn and assist with Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge/FE NXT database software.
- Help the Accountant and Director of Finance digitize documents according to retention policies.
- Support data entry tasks such as journal entries, batches, and accounts payable.
- Communicate with campus contacts and leadership regarding fund balances, endowed allocations, and fund criteria.
- Assist with analysis or other projects that require attention to detail, promoting stronger relationships and collaboration across campus.
- Review processes for efficiency, including updating fund records, naming conventions, and standardizing data entry, as well as cleaning up previous systems or records.
- Provide administrative support to the Foundation team as needed, including filing, data entry, and general office duties, such as answering phones or directing questions to the appropriate contacts.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in accounting through work or coursework, with Acct 244 & 249 completed or in progress.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Well-organized with a keen eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks at once.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with accrual accounting, accounts payable, and using Excel for data analysis and organization.
- Interest in working in a nonprofit environment, particularly in accounting.
