Global Short-Term Project: Waggoner Financial (Hybrid)
Are you ready to put your business knowledge into practice and gain valuable real-world experience? The MSU Broad College of Business and the Russell Palmer Career Center are excited to announce this Summer 2026 Global Short-Term Project with Waggoner Financial. Summer global short-term projects are designed for eligible Broad students who have not secured full-time internships over the summer. These unique opportunities allows students to collaborate with companies to tackle challenges and develop innovative solutions.
Project Description and Scope:
The student will conduct a comprehensive equity research analysis on a publicly traded company within the travel and leisure industry — including airlines, hotels, online travel agencies, or cruise lines. The goal is to simulate the experience of a sell-side or buy-side analyst preparing a formal investment recommendation for an investment committee.
The student will develop an original research thesis supported by both qualitative and quantitative analysis. This includes building a financial model, evaluating competitive positioning, assessing industry dynamics, and identifying key risks and catalysts. The student will culminate their work with a professional equity research report and a live presentation to a mock investment committee, where they will defend their stock recommendation — Buy, Hold, or Sell — and respond to questions from panelists.
This project is designed to bridge the gap between classroom theory and real-world practice, giving students hands-on experience with the tools, frameworks, and communication skills expected of investment professionals.
