R2026101375 Understanding Digital Communication Use, Its Opportunities and Challenges

Position Summary:

The Office of Engagement and Extension aspires to be the trusted resource for connecting community needs to CSU and uses digital communications as part of reaching audiences across Colorado. This internship will explore best practices, what’s working in our current approach, and make recommendations on use of digital communications to continue to grow reach and access. As part of this internship, you will seek to understand the communications activities being completed across the Office of Engagement and Extension, and in Gunnison County, Colorado; analyze the impact/results of communication efforts; identify and understand target audiences and preferred approaches; and conduct a review of best practices across other land-grant universities and their Extension communications.

30 hours per week

Required Job Qualifications:

  • Completed marketing / communications course work OR Completed bachelor’s degree in business, communications, marketing or related field of study.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively based on written application materials.

Preferred Job Qualifications:

  • Experience analyzing data.
  • Experience interviewing individuals and groups.
  • Previous marketing and communications work experience.

Essential Duties:

  • Review best practices for marketing and communications.
  • Review current work and impacts of marketing efforts.
  • Work with local Gunnison County Extension staff to understand community communication preferences.
  • Compile research into recommendations.
  • Create a poster that encapsulates the work you completed over the summer and present it to Extension Faculty and Staff at OEE’s annual forum next fall.
