AI/ML Engineering Summer Internship
Background
Knaq builds IoT monitoring technology for a range of industrial equipment that combines custom-built hardware with cloud-based analytics and AI. Our hardware sends real-time data to cloud-based infrastructure that presents live equipment information, alerting, and predictive analytics.
We’re looking for motivated computer science/data engineering students to join our small, engineering-focused team over the summer of 2026 as interns. This role will primarily focus on developing more robust predictive models using AI/ML. This is a full-time and in-person in Lower Manhattan, New York City. There is a $3.2k/month stipend and we can work with your university to provide class credit.
Expected experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or related field, or foreign degree equivalent. Currently working towards a master’s degree in Computer Science, or related field, or foreign degree equivalent. 1+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering or data science, with a strong understanding of statistical modeling and predictive methods
Responsibilities
- Work with the lead SWE and leadership team to develop data models aimed at predicting machine failure in advance.
- This role is designed to give you hands-on experience developing data models that will be actively used in the field;
- Utilize statistical reasoning and methods to analyze and provide usable insights on large datasets;
- Use quantitative analysis skills to identify anomalies in dataset that predict equipment failures;
- Proactively identify areas for improvement on our current predictive models and data architecture;
- Create clear visualizations to present insights and create detailed documentation of your work throughout the summer.
- Hold yourself to high standards for independent work and initiative.
