Elementary Teacher

Full-Time, Licensed Elementary Teacher at Pipestone Area Schools Elementary
Reports To: Building Principal
Contract: 181-day teacher contract (per master agreement)   

POSITION SUMMARY

Pipestone Area Schools is seeking a dynamic, student-centered, and highly collaborative elementary teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will create a positive and inclusive classroom environment, deliver high-quality standards-based instruction, and use data to support the academic and social-emotional growth of all learners. We are looking for an educator who is committed to continuous improvement, able to implement student-centered practices, and to contributing positively to our professional learning community and school culture.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Minnesota teaching license with appropriate elementary endorsement.
  • Knowledge of child development and effective instructional practices.
  • Demonstrated classroom management skills grounded in best practices.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to equity and fostering an inclusive learning environment.

Preferred:

  • Experience teaching in a K–6 elementary setting.
  • Experience with structured literacy and evidence-based math practices.
  • Familiarity with MTSS/RTI frameworks.
  • Experience implementing social-emotional learning practices.
  • Experience using assessment systems or similar tools.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of evidence-based literacy and math instruction aligned with the Science of Reading.
  • Ability to analyze and use student data to drive instructional decisions.
  • Skill in differentiating instruction to meet diverse learner needs.
  • Ability to build strong, positive relationships with students and families.
  • Proficiency with instructional technology and digital learning platforms.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, specialists, and support staff.
  • Knowledge of competency-based teaching and learning preferred. 
  • Commitment to ongoing professional growth and reflective practice.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Instruction & Assessment

  • Develop and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons for elementary learners.
  • Differentiate instruction based on student readiness, interests, and learning profiles.
  • Use formative and summative assessment data to monitor progress and adjust instruction.
  • Implement targeted interventions and enrichment during WIN/intervention blocks.
  • Utilize district assessment systems (e.g., DIBELS, CAPTI, MCA) to inform instruction.
  • Integrate technology and innovative instructional strategies into daily teaching.

Learning Environment & Student Support

  • Establish and maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Support and implement district social-emotional learning frameworks.
  • Build a strong classroom community and model expected behaviors.
  • Apply trauma-informed and culturally responsive practices.
  • Supervise students to ensure safety in classrooms, hallways, lunchroom, and playground.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Collaborate with grade-level teams and participate actively in PLC processes.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with families regarding student progress.
  • Participate in IEP, 504, MTSS, and intervention meetings as appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with specialists, paraprofessionals, and support staff.
  • Support district initiatives, policies, and school improvement goals.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and timely records of attendance, grades, and student performance.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and district training.
  • Reflect on instructional practices and pursue continuous professional growth.
  • Engage in school activities and contribute positively to the school community.

WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the classroom for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry instructional materials up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to supervise students indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Certified staff are compensated according to the current master agreement.
Salary range: $51,000-$80,000
