Embedded Software Intern

We are looking for embedded software development interns who want responsibility and ownership over meaningful software challenges that can impact the company immediately and into the future. We seek to unleash these inquisitive and problem-solving interns on individual projects and as members of our teams paired with guidance and mentorship from our experienced engineers. We know our team members do their best work when they are working on projects that excite them, so we try to match our interns to projects related to their interests. 

At Maxentric, our teams work on a variety of cross-discipline R&D projects born out of the ideas of our engineers. Our current projects focus on the networking, wireless communication, health, and artificial intelligence fields and range from early exploratory efforts to commercial product transitions. As software developers, our interns may be involved with writing the firmware to control complex electronics, designing and implementing the user interfaces for our devices, optimizing algorithms for the next generation of processor architectures, or coding the backend computations powering the latest research concepts. The supporting teams of electrical and mechanical engineers, as well as university research partners, provide constant exposure to new ideas and inspiration and a set of helpful experts as we work to develop the future. 

This position will be based out of MaXentric’s California office in downtown La Jolla or our New Jersey office in Fort Lee, just outside of Manhattan. 

Below are some of the qualifications we are looking for: 

Pursuing or have obtained a degree in CS/EE/ME 

Up-to-date, hands-on software design, development and programming experience 

Ability to design systems and document and communicate the designs 

Driven to find solutions to challenging engineering problems 

Comfortable and effective working both independently and as a team 

Excited by prototype-to-product development and problem-solving 

In addition, we have extended opportunities for candidates who bring some or all of the following: 

Experience with designing and implementing real-time applications 

Experience with embedded development 

Experience with Unix/Linux-based systems 

Experience with Linux driver development 

Experience with mobile application development for Android and/or iOS 

Experience with design and implementation of cyber/network security functions 

Experience with machine learning/ artificial intelligence 

Overall, we are looking for energetic candidates who are innovative, curiosity-driven, willing to explore new ideas, and are strong team players with excellent communication skills.
