Safety Manager
Safety Manager: As a Safety Manager, you will ensure the safety of employees, trade partners and the general public on all projects. The Safety Manager is responsible for creating a culture of care while enforcing the Safety and Health Policy, as well as, local and federal safety standards on jobsites. This role leads employee safety education in partnership with project supervisors to develop safe work plans for all projects and tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Create, manage and update comprehensive health and safety plans, procedures and emergency rescue plans
- Conduct regular hazard identification, risk assessments and audits of jobsites, machinery and processes
- Ensure adherence to all federal, state and local safety laws (e.g., OSHA) and industry standards
- Develop and delivery safety training; including new hire orientations, to promote a safety-first mindset
- Investigate accidents, near misses and injuries; determine root causes and implement corrective actions
- Compile data, track safety incident rates and submit required reports to management and regulatory agencies
- Champion safety initiatives, motivate employees and promote a proactive safety culture
- Serve as the point of contact for safety with internal teams (HR, Operations) and external entities (clients, contractors, regulators)
Essential Skills & Qualifications;
- Deep knowledge of safety regulations and legal guidelines (OSHA, EPA, DOT)
- Strong analytical, risk assessment and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and motivational skills
- Proven experience in safety management or a relevant field (e.g., engineering)
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CSP) are often required or preferred
Travel required from KCMO to Des Moines, IA and Springfield, MO monthly
