Production Assistant

PRODUCTION ASSISTANT

Position status: Temporary

Reports to: Artistic Operations Director, Production Manager

Supervision by: Artistic Operations Director, Production Manager

Compensation: $19/hour

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Chamber Music Northwest seeks an energetic, intuitive, detail-oriented Production Assistant. The Production Assistant works under the supervision of the Production Manager and two Stage Managers. Essential duties include, but are not limited to, the following: 

 

Pre-Festival (Load-In)

  • Provide overall support to the Production and Operations teams with pre-Festival load-in, including preparing rehearsal and performance spaces, production office space at venues, and set-up of any needed concert hall and performance equipment.
  • Become familiar with festival staff and artist roster. Learn the complete production schedule, including when and where all public events will take place.
  • Participate in all orientation activities. 
  • Assist with any artists’ or Artistic Director needs.

 

During the Festival

  • Provide overall support to the Production, Back of House, and Front of House teams, supporting Festival staff with executing all production and artist hospitality aspects of festival events.
  • Support Artistic Directors administrative and personal needs as requested.
  • Act as assistant to artists during rehearsals and concerts.
  • Ensure stage, backstage and greenroom areas are clean, safe, and secure
  • Run errands and purchase supplies for the festival as requested - may include deliveries and pick-ups, meal ordering and restaurant reservations, providing transportation of artists as needed
  • Coordinate post-concert dinners for artists and donors 

 

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS

The Production Assistant must be personable, proactive, and professional, with a knack for anticipating others’ needs. The position requires flexibility, reliability, limitless energy, and meticulous attention to detail. Occasional heavy lifting may be required and candidates should be capable of spending long days on their feet.

 

Additionally, the following are required:

  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record and a reliable car.
  • Accessibility via cell phone and e-mail and availability during off-hours.
  • Fluency in Google Workspace and Slack
  • Ability to maintain a complex schedule of events and associated details (times, locations, artists, etc.)
  • Sound discretion, tact and decorum.

 

Strongly preferred qualifications

  • Previous experience as an artist assistant or work with musicians at a live performance venue.
  • Background or strong interest in the performing arts

 

JOB CONDITIONS AND COMPENSATION

This Production Assistant role is a full-time, seasonal position. In addition to the full work term listed below, there may be additional orientations, training, and pre-Festival staff meetings in early June. 

 

Contract Term: June 21–July 20, 2026 

Summer Festival Dates: June 22–July 19, 2026

 

Festival hours may be long and demanding and will include working nights and weekends. The Production Assistant must be available as many as six days a week during the Festival period, including occasional late night and early morning hours.
