The SBS Office of Career and Professional Development is looking to hire a Social Media intern for the 2026-2027 academic year to assist with a variety of duties related to digital promotion, marketing, and education about its programs. This internship is paid, and also eligible for credit in the fall and spring semesters, and will require at least 6 hours a week (over 12 weeks of each semester), more if time allows.

Reaching students via social media and web outreach is more important than ever. We have a dynamic, user friendly website and create content specific to each user. This is an exciting opportunity for students with a firm grasp of social media and content development to further develop their skills in a real world environment.

The primary function of the Social Media Intern(s) is to help ensure that the latest information about our office, programs and events are reaching students through a variety of media. The Social Media Intern(s) will help create a social media strategy, content, develop and distribute text and video-based content, monitor social media channels, support promotional and marketing efforts, and help us fill out our website and grow our social presence.

Duties & Responsibilities include:

· Draft a social media strategy, identifying appropriate times to post on each SBS Career social platform that will attract more student followers and enhance engagement with our audience.

· Help identify, conceptualize, design and execute campaigns to boost engagement, educate and inform all constituents (students, staff, faculty, alumni and employers) about events, services and programs using TikTok, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook posts, LinkedIn, blogs, email newsletters, virtual events, and website content;

· Play a key role assisting the team in development and promotion of the Pathways website, using knowledge and data to populate areas that are specifically curated to individual student interests;

· Support team with execution of online events such as career fairs, workshops, webinars, and more;

· Track, measure, and report on social media platform engagement and website traffic using data analytics to identify high-performing ideas and campaigns;

· Additional responsibilities based on your individual skills/interests and organization needs.

 

Social Media Experience & Requirements:

An ideal Social Media Intern will have an in-depth knowledge of social media platforms. The intern will be comfortable creating and managing multiple social media accounts, developing content to inform, educate and engage our audiences to increase awareness of programming and services. An exceptional candidate will have a working knowledge of the major content management systems and social media analytics.

· Major in one of the SBS majors is preferred

· Impeccable oral and written communication skills

· Previous professional experience in a social media-related internship is preferred

· Experience with the major social media platforms including Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, LinkedIn, Snap and Google+, as well as Canva, Photoshop/InDesign, image/video editing software and MailChimp preferred. Highly proficient in MS Word and other Windows applications.

· Knowledge of social media analytics to track audience engagement and campaign performance

· Commitment to learning, collaboration, and accountability in goal accomplishment. 

· Strong interest and demonstrated engagement in social media, public relations, marketing, website development, graphic design and/or communications

·  Ability to work independently and to collaborate with others, plan, organize, prioritize work, and meet tight deadlines

· Must be able to apply close attention to detail and consistently produce error-free work

· Eagerness to be creative and take initiative on new ideas and projects
