District Intern
The Howell County Soil and Water Conservation District is seeking applicants for a 2026 District Intern.
Applicants must be enrolled in higher education, preferably in an agriculture or conservation related major.
The intern selected will help the District administer state Soil and Water Conservation Program cost-share programs, make farm visits, help farmers and landowners with technical support and advice and answer common farming, conservation, and land management questions, perform day-to-day office tasks, and aid with the District's rental planting equipment.
The ideal candidate will be pursuing an agriculture or conservation related major, have a basic understanding of common farming, agriculture, and conservation practices, be customer-focused and willing to work with landowners to help them meet their conservation needs, be willing to do both field and office work, have strong communication and computer skills, be flexible and willing to do a variety of tasks as the need arises, and be a self-starter and willing to work independently.
This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in working in an agricultural or conservation-oriented field or wanting to work for state and federal agencies, such as the Missouri Soil and Water Conservation Program, Department of Natural Resources, Missouri Department of Conservation, Natural Resource Conservation Services, or the US Department of Agriculture.
