Digital Marketing/Communications Intern


Classification:    Part-Time/Full Time (Unpaid – Eligible for Academic Credit)
Location:            Media, PA  Office – Hybrid
Supervisor:        Executive Director


Purpose:
The Digital Marketing/Communications Intern supports DAP’s public relations, marketing, and digital media initiatives. This role helps raise awareness of domestic violence prevention and promote DAP’s programs, services, and community events. The intern will assist with social media strategy, website content, media relations, and digital storytelling to strengthen DAP’s public presence and brand voice.

Essential Duties:

  • Create engaging digital content (graphics, photos, videos, and copy) for social media platforms, newsletters, flyers, pamphlets and the DAP website.
  • Develop and manage a social media calendar to align messaging with awareness months, community events, and agency updates.
  • Draft press releases, blog posts, and community stories highlighting DAP’s impact and initiatives.
  • Support media outreach by maintaining press lists, tracking coverage, and assisting with media inquiries.
  • Assist in the creation of marketing materials & campaigns to increase visibility & community engagement.
  • Capture and edit photos/videos from DAP events, outreach, and public awareness activities.
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure consistent branding and messaging across platforms.
  • Participate in communications planning meetings and brainstorming sessions.
  • Other communications-related projects as assigned


Educational Requirement: Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an associate or bachelor’s degree program/or equivalent experience in English, Journalism, Communications, Digital Media, Public Relations, Fundraising, Marketing or similar focus.

Knowledge/Skills Required:

  • Strong interest in communications, media relations, and digital storytelling.
  • Working knowledge of social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok).
  • Strong writing, editing, and content creation skills.
  • Experience or interest in photo/video editing and basic design (Canva preferred).
  • Familiarity with WordPress, Constant Contact, or similar platforms a plus.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects.
  • Self-starter who can work independently and collaboratively.

Work Environment:

  • Hybrid position based at DAP’s Media, PA office location
  • Work primarily performed in an office or remote setting.
  • May include occasional attendance at community events for coverage.

Other Requirements:

  • Successful completion of required organizational training
  • Satisfactory Criminal Background Check and other required clearances
  • Valid drivers’ license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to move or transport supplies or other equipment, while ascending or descending stairs
  • Ability to work a minimum of 10 hours per week
  • Ability to commit to a minimum of 90 days preferred
