Natural Gas Design Engineer - Junior

Summary:  First Cut Design & Fabrication is seeking a Natural Gas Design Engineer to join our team.   We specialize in turnkey solutions for the natural gas transmission and distribution – from design, fabrication and installation.  This is an in-person position located at our facility in Richburg, SC and will report directly to the Senior Engineer (PE). The design engineer will provide high quality mechanical design and drawing sets for the fabrications, construction, and installation of natural gas piping facilities.   

Additional Responsibilities include: 

  • Provide detailed design and AutoCAD drawing packages for Natural Gas Projects (main lines, service lines, measurement and regulator equipment, etc.) to include isometrics, P&ID’s, two-line plan and elevation views, plot plans, site layouts, and details among others. 
  • Perform Engineering calculations to ensure designs are in compliance with FERC and all other federal, state, and local codes.
  • Provide designs in accordance with customer specifications. 
  • Provide technical assistance and support to Construction and Field operations, in the shop fabrication, and on-site installation of facilities.
  • Size and select appropriate equipment to meet project parameters. 
  • Collaborate with FCDF team members on contract bid preparation.
  • Communicate with customers to obtain scope of projects and participate in design reviews.
  • Adapt to fast-paced project schedules with ability to prioritize time and efficiently complete projects on schedule. 
  • Independently maintain project schedules and provide timely updates on project milestones.
  • Provide training/guidance to CAD support personnel.
  • Perform site visits as needed.

     

Experience/Qualification Requirements: 

Must have:

  • P.E. in training or ability to acquire 
  • 1-2 years relevant experience in the Oil & Gas or related utility industry
  • Competency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Demonstrated experience in AutoCAD

Nice to have:

  • P.E. in SC, NC, TN, VA, FL or KY or ability to acquire
