The Executive Pathways Program is a paid summer internship (June – August) for college students to explore a rewarding career in public service.

Job Summary
This position is eligible for telework for applicants who reside in Minnesota or in a bordering state, with supervisory approval and satisfactory performance. If you live in a state bordering Minnesota, you must live within 50 miles or less from the primary work location to be eligible for telework.
The Budget Operations Interns will work within the Financial Operations Division (FOD). The Budget Operations Intern will support the improvement and organization of internal process documentation. This internship is a great opportunity for students interested in learning how fiscal and budget operations work within state government. In this role, the intern will work closely with Budget Operations staff to understand day-to-day fiscal processes, identify gaps in existing documentation, and help develop clear and user-friendly standard operating procedures and reference guides. These materials will support both internal staff and program partners, especially during important fiscal close and open periods.
Some responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Shadow Budget Operations team members to learn state budget and fiscal processes
- Review existing procedure documents and identify gaps or areas for improvement
- Develop, update, and organize standard operating procedures and reference guides
- Assist with documenting process variations and nuances across different funding sources
- Review statewide fiscal policies to ensure alignment with internal practices
- Support clear verbal and written communication of fiscal processes and responsibilities
- Assist during key fiscal close and open periods by helping document timelines and expectations
