Assistant Football Coach
Waterford Public Schools has an immediate vacancy for a team-oriented individual. Waterford Public Schools is seeking an Assistant Football Coach at Waterford High School effective for the 2026/27 school year.
Waterford Public Schools serves approximately 2,400 students in grades PK-12. The District’s facilities include three elementary schools, one middle school and one high school. The Waterford Board of Education is a nine-member elected body.
Duties:
Tactical Instruction: Execute daily practice plans focusing on position-specific fundamentals (e.g., hand placement, route running, or tackling form).
Film Evaluation: Utilize Hudl or similar platforms to grade player performance and scout upcoming opponents.
Strategic Input: Assist in the development of weekly "Scout Team" looks to prepare the starters for opponent tendencies.
Academic Monitoring: Act as a liaison between the classroom and the field, ensuring players maintain eligibility.
Safety Oversight: Implement "Heads Up" tackling techniques and monitor players for signs of heat exhaustion or injury.
Equipment Management: Assist with the inventory, distribution, and maintenance of helmets, pads, and uniforms.
EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- CT Coaching Certification
First Aid: Current CPR/AED certification.
Experience: Previous experience at the High School level (Varsity/JV) or significant playing experience at the Collegiate level.
Communication: Ability to bridge the gap between "coach-speak" and instructions that a 15-year-old can effectively execute.
