IT System Administration - Journey

This position is a non-permanent funded until September 30, 2027.
Shift hours are Thursday through Sunday from 2:00 PM to 12:00 AM.

The Information Technology Division (ITD) exists to leverage technology to enhance and sustain business processes, public safety infrastructure, and statewide emergency communications to facilitate the accomplishment of all agency goals. 

 

Duties

The TraCS Records and Standards Systems Administrator has the primary responsibility to ensure that the agency and external customer needs are met within this platform. This position will directly support internal and external field users and the reporting and tracking of tickets, collisions, tow/impound forms, and TraCS DUI arrest reports (everyday database management).

 

Our new teammate will be able to:

  • Configure and maintain the TraCS application to meet agency operational and security requirements. 
  • Manage user access levels, permissions, and access controls to ensure secure and appropriate access. 
  • Monitor system data integrity, resolving any discrepancies or issues promptly. 
  • Establish disaster recovery protocols. 
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for system-related issues, troubleshooting, resolution, and liaison to TraCS post-project implementation. 
  • Provide technical support for end users to ensue effective use of the system. 
  • Maintain and enhance the TraCS database, model, tables, add code values, and develop reports to support the TraCS users and the WSP. 
  • Develop user guides and documentation for staff to enhance understanding of system features and functions. 
  • Optimize system configurations and workflows to improve efficiency and usability.  
  • Support the integration of TraCS with other systems and tools used by WSP. 
  • Work with TraCS and internal or external teams to customize the system/further form development to meet evolving business needs. 
  • Ensure the system complies with all relevant regulations, policies, and standards, including CJIS requirements. 
  • Collaborate with project teams, IT staff, and TraCS/Technology Enterprise Group(TEG) to resolve complex issues and implement new features.
  • Communicate system updates, changes, and outages to stakeholders in a timely manner. 
  • Ensure that reporting tools are functional and accessible to authorized users. 
  • Identify opportunities for system improvement and implement solutions proactively. 
  • Perform data validation to ensure accurate data collection proactively. 
  • Ensure database integrity is maintained. 
  • Test new versions of software provided by the vendor. 
  • Code, debug, and verify new traffic related forms, within TraCS when needed using TEG proprietary integrated development environment
  • Evaluate the scope of request for change/enhancement, determine the impact on the TraCS ecosystem, and communicate technical concerns with the TraCS team. 

 

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Two year associate degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or related field, AND six years of experience using, consulting, analyzing, designing, programming, installing, supporting, and/or maintaining software applications.
    • OR Four year degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or related field AND four years relevant of experience using, consulting, analyzing, designing, programming, installing, supporting, and/or maintaining software applications.
    • OR Eight years of experience using, consulting, analyzing, designing, programming, installing, supporting, and/or maintaining software applications.
  • Three Years' experience in the support and use of the following technologies/software:
    • Microsoft Windows 10 or higher operating systems
    • Microsoft Office products
    • Wireless devices
    • Network connectivity 
    • Help desk/desktop support
  • Two years of experience using SQL to create reports and data extracts.
