Short Overview
Hasten Hebrew Academy of Indianapolis (HHAI), located on the north side of Indianapolis, is seeking a dynamic, student-centered 6th and 7th Grade General Studies Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year.
This position is ideal for an educator who thrives in a small, relationship-driven environment. Our middle school cohort is fewer than 10 students and is structured similarly to an elementary classroom model, allowing for strong differentiation, individualized attention, and a homeroom-centered experience. Students leave the classroom for specials and religious/Judaic studies but remain with this teacher for core academic subjects.

Position Description
The 6th–7th Grade General Studies Teacher will serve as the primary homeroom teacher and instructor for:
Mathematics
Science
Language Arts
Social Studies/History
The classroom functions as a self-contained academic environment with a strong emphasis on:
Differentiated instruction
Skill-based learning
Executive functioning support
Social-emotional development
High academic expectations in a small-group setting
This role is designed for a teacher who values structure, warmth, and consistency and who believes middle school students thrive when deeply known and supported.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum
Plan and deliver engaging lessons in math, science, language arts, and history
Differentiate instruction to meet a wide range of academic levels within a small group
Use formative and summative assessments to guide instruction
Provide targeted skill support where needed (writing, organization, math fluency, study skills)
Integrate cross-curricular projects when appropriate
Classroom Environment
Establish a strong homeroom culture rooted in belonging, accountability, and respect
Create routines similar to an elementary classroom structure while maintaining middle school rigor
Support students’ executive functioning, independence, and time management skills
Foster leadership, collaboration, and critical thinking
Collaboration
Work closely with Judaic studies teachers and specials teachers
Communicate consistently with families
Collaborate with administration on student support plans and growth goals
Participate in professional development and faculty meetings
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s preferred)
Indiana teaching license (or ability to obtain one)
Experience teaching upper elementary or middle school
Strong knowledge of core subject standards
Ability to differentiate instruction in a multi-level classroom
Excellent classroom management and relationship-building skills
