AP Spanish Tutor

Program Title: Advanced Spanish Excellence: AP Spanish Language & Culture

Target Audience:
High school students preparing for the rigorous AP Spanish Language & Culture exam (May'26).

Core Mission:
To mentor and guide motivated students toward fluency, cultural competence, and high performance on the AP Spanish exam — strengthening reading, writing, listening, speaking, and intercultural communication skills.

🧭 Program Structure

Phase 1: Foundations & Language Mastery

Advanced grammar review (subjunctive, compound tenses, commands)

Vocabulary development aligned with AP themes

Listening comprehension and conversational fluency

Phase 2: Cultural Themes & Analytical Skills

AP Themes: Global Challenges, Science & Technology, Contemporary Life, Personal & Public Identities, Families & Communities, Beauty & Aesthetics

Analysis of authentic texts (articles, podcasts, videos)

Formal and informal email writing practice

Phase 3: Speaking & Writing Excellence

Simulated interpersonal conversations

Cultural comparison presentations

Timed persuasive essays with structured feedback

Error analysis and refinement

Phase 4: Exam Readiness & Strategy

Full-length AP practice exams

Targeted review of weak areas

Time-management strategies

Confidence-building and fluency coaching

🎓 Key Responsibilities

Facilitate Interactive Learning:
Conduct one-on-one or small group sessions tailored to each student’s proficiency level.

Develop Custom Study Plans:
Create structured lesson plans aligned with College Board AP Spanish standards.

Teach Advanced Language Skills:

Complex grammatical structures

Cultural analysis and comparison

Formal writing and persuasive argumentation

Real-time conversational fluency

Mentor Exam Readiness:
Prepare students for all sections of the AP Spanish exam, including multiple-choice, FRQs, and oral components.

Encourage Growth Mindset:
Foster confidence in speaking Spanish while nurturing cultural appreciation and intellectual curiosity.

✅ Preferred Qualifications

Academic Background: Degree in Spanish, Linguistics, Education, or related field (undergraduate or graduate level).

Language Proficiency: Advanced or native-level Spanish fluency.

AP Expertise: Familiarity with AP Spanish Language & Culture curriculum and exam structure.

Teaching Experience: Prior tutoring or classroom experience preferred.

Communication Skills: Ability to clearly explain grammar, guide writing structure, and build speaking confidence.

Alumni Advantage: Preference given to Fremont/MSJHS alumni who can connect with students’ academic journey.
