Brooklyn Builders Studio is a hands-on architecture and design center that allows young creators to explore the process of how ideas become architecture. Our Summer Studios offer ten week-long programs for ages 6 – 12 that blend model making, drawing, materials exploration, and collaborative place making – all rooted in curiosity, confidence building, and creative risk-taking. www.brooklynbuildersstudio.com
Role Overview
We’re seeking thoughtful, design-minded, and empathetic instructors to lead our week-long Summer Studios. Instructors guide campers through daily projects, support their creative process, and help build a warm, inclusive studio environment.
The role is ideal for emerging architects and designers who enjoy working with kids and believe in the power of hands-on making.
Responsibilities
- Lead daily architecture and design activities, including drawing, model making, and materials exploration
- Support campers in developing ideas, solving problems, and building confidence
- Set up and break down materials and studio spaces
- Facilitate group discussions, critiques, and collaborative place making
- Cultivate a safe, supportive, and joyful environment
- Communicate with families as needed
- Collaborate with studio leadership to refine daily plans and adapt to campers needs
- Participate in campers portfolio documentation
Qualifications
- Experience working with children (camp, classroom, after-school, tutoring, or similar)
- Background in art, architecture, design, engineering, or other related fields
- Comfort with hands-on materials and guiding kids through multi-step projects
- Strong communication and classroom management skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and maintain a positive, inclusive tone

- Seasonal, June – early September 2026
- Monday – Friday 8:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.
- Hourly rate: $25
- Training days in late May / early June
