Accounting Assistant - A/R Specialist

TITLE:                                 Accounting Assistant - A/R Specialist 

REPORTS TO:                     Director of Finance

Position Summary: working closely with the Director of Finance to ensure that all A/R functions of the Parish are carried out faithfully and in accordance with the diocesan policies and guidelines. The position entails significant exposure to confidential information; therefore, sound judgment, discretion, and confidentiality must always be maintained.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for all A/R functions.
  • Process daily cash deposits and related journal entries.
  • Weekly data entry of parishioners' contributions.
  • Perform monthly general ledger and bank reconciliations.
  • Ensure proper income allocations.
  • Assist with tuition administration.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial and annual parish report.
  • Support the Director of Finance in a variety of fiscal and accounting tasks as well as other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
  • 0-3 years of work experience in the accounting field.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (experience with QuickBooks is a plus).
  • High attention to detail with the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Possesses strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Excel skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Blackbaud Tuition Management, Parish Data System (PDS), and ParishSoft Giving a plus.
  • Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
