Software Engineering Intern
PLANET.TECH
Internship Opportunities — Spring/Summer 2026
Building technology that solves planetary-scale problems.
PLANET.TECH is a venture-backed climate technology startup developing wearable methane capture devices for dairy cattle. We convert cow burps — the single largest source of agricultural methane — into renewable natural gas and sustainable aviation fuel. Our mission: prevent 14% of global methane emissions while creating new revenue streams for farmers.
We’re looking for driven, curious interns who want real responsibility at a company solving one of the most important problems on the planet. No coffee runs. No busy work. Just meaningful work with direct CEO and CTO access.

About PLANET.TECH
PLANET.TECH is a venture-backed climate technology startup building the world’s first wearable methane capture device for dairy cattle. We convert cow burps — which represent 80% of cattle methane emissions — into renewable natural gas and sustainable aviation fuel, creating new revenue streams for farmers while addressing one of the largest sources of agricultural greenhouse gas emissions.
We’ve achieved 28.8% field capture efficiency (up from 3% in October 2025), secured 35 California dairy Letters of Intent representing 89,000+ head of cattle, and are launching our Texas A&M pilot program in Q1 2026. Our 10-person team operates from Austin with the intensity, speed, and ambition of a company building planetary-scale impact.
The Role
We’re looking for a software engineering intern who can contribute across two high-impact areas: (1) full-stack development for Mootality, our cattle health monitoring platform, and (2) building out CORE, our internal AI agentic operating system powered by open-source frameworks.
You’ll work directly alongside our Lead Software Engineer and the CEO, shipping production code from your first week. This is not a shadow-and-observe internship — you’ll own features, deploy systems, and see your work running in production on real dairy farms.
What You’ll Work On
Mootality Platform (Full-Stack)
- Build and ship features for our cattle health monitoring web application (React/Next.js frontend, Python/Node backend)
- Develop real-time dashboards displaying rumination, respiratory, temperature, and activity data from collar-mounted sensors
- Integrate sensor data pipelines from IoT devices to cloud infrastructure
- Build farmer-facing interfaces that make complex health data simple and actionable
- Support API development for third-party integrations with farm management systems
CORE — AI Agentic Operating System
- Help build and extend CORE, our 4-agent AI architecture (CORE orchestrator + Zeus, Cherry Labs, and Kalos sub-agents) using open-source agentic frameworks
- Develop Zeus — the team-facing operational agent that lives in Slack and handles investor follow-up, meeting prep, pipeline management, and daily briefings
- Build integrations connecting CORE to our tool stack: HubSpot, Gmail, Google Calendar, Notion, Slack, Fireflies, and GitHub
- Implement prompt engineering, agent workflows, and tool-calling patterns for autonomous task execution
- Design and build the Single Source of Truth (SSOT) data layer that feeds all agents
What We’re Looking For
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (all levels welcome — hunger matters more than year)
- Proficiency in Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript; experience with React or Next.js is a strong plus
- Genuine interest in AI/ML, agentic systems, or large language model tooling (experience with LangChain, OpenAI API, Anthropic API, or similar is a plus but not required)
- Comfort working in a fast-paced startup where priorities shift and ownership is expected from day one
- Self-starter who can take a vague problem, break it down, and ship a working solution
- Passion for climate, agriculture, or building technology that matters
Bonus Points
- Experience with IoT data pipelines, MQTT, or sensor integrations
- Familiarity with open-source agentic frameworks (OpenClaw, CrewAI, AutoGen, or similar)
- Cloud infrastructure experience (AWS, GCP, or Vercel)
- Interest in or experience with agricultural technology
- You’ve built and deployed a side project that people actually use
What You Get
- Equity compensation — you’re building ownership in a company with $255M in pipeline value and breakthrough technology
- Direct mentorship from the CEO and Lead Software Engineer — no layers, no bureaucracy
- Your code running in production on real dairy farms within weeks of starting
- Experience building AI agentic systems from the ground up — the most in-demand skill in tech right now
- A front-row seat to how a venture-backed climate startup operates: fundraising, product development, pilot launches, and team building
- Home-cooked team lunches (the CEO is a culinary school grad)
