Director of Campus Growth
Director of Campus Growth
About bubhub
bubhub is a real-time social planning app built for going out. It helps students answer the question "What are we doing tonight?" — without 40 group chat messages and no decision. Students can see where their friends are heading, where the crowd is building, and what venues are actually doing right now, all in one place.
bubhub is also the first nightlife platform where venues are active participants, not just static listings — creating a live ecosystem between places and the people choosing between them.
We're launching across a select cluster of college campuses in Fall 2026, with a soft launch beginning this summer. The Director of Campus Growth is the person who makes that launch work.
The Role
The Director of Campus Growth is bubhub's second hire and the operational backbone of the campus launch strategy. This role sits between the Founder and the campus teams — translating vision into execution, and execution into results.
You will recruit, hire, and manage Campus Leads at each school. You will hold those teams accountable to their goals. You will be the first call when something isn't working and the person who figures out why. And you will do all of this while simultaneously running bubhub's highest-priority launch campus yourself — the University of Missouri.
This is not a coordination role. It's an operator role. The Director of Campus Growth is expected to move fast, make judgment calls, and treat every campus like a business they're responsible for.
Core Responsibilities
Ambassador Recruitment & Hiring
- Lead outreach and recruitment for Campus Lead positions at each target campus
- Build and manage the application pipeline in coordination with the Founder
- Conduct or support first-round interviews and surface top candidates
- Develop relationships with student organizations, Greek councils, and campus networks to build a strong applicant pool
The quality of the campus teams flows directly from the quality of the recruiting. This is one of the highest-leverage activities in the role.
Campus Team Management & Accountability
- Serve as the primary point of contact and manager for all Campus Leads
- Run regular check-ins with each campus team — tracking progress, removing blockers, and maintaining momentum
- Identify underperformance early and address it directly, up to and including personnel decisions in coordination with the Founder
- Ensure every campus team understands their goals, their lane, and what winning looks like
Campus Leads operate with autonomy. The Director's job is not to micromanage — it's to create the conditions where each team can succeed and intervene decisively when they can't.
Performance Tracking & Reporting
- Own the metrics dashboard across all active campuses — downloads, active users, bubble creation, venue activations
- Deliver regular performance reports to the Founder with honest assessment of what's working and what isn't
- Flag risks early — a struggling campus or underperforming team lead should never be a surprise to leadership
- Translate data into action: surface patterns, recommend adjustments, and follow through on them
Venue Strategy — Cross-Campus
- Support Campus Leads in their venue outreach — providing coaching, talking points, and escalation support when needed
- Identify venue partnership patterns that work and systematize them across campuses
- Help develop and refine the venue pitch as the program matures and real-world feedback comes in
- Flag venue-side product feedback to the Founder for roadmap consideration
App Improvement
- Work with Campus Leads to culminate user feedback on tech/interface issues and suggestions for UX improvement and additional features
What Success Looks Like — Year One
By the end of March 2026 (infrastructure phase):
- Recruiting complete — Campus Lead positions filled at all target launch campuses
By end of Summer 2026 (soft launch phase):
- Venues onboarded — Minimum 5-7 anchor venues active on bubhub at each campus before hard launch
- Student conversion — bubhub present in Greek life, major organizations, and incoming freshman orientation
- Playbook documented — A repeatable campus launch playbook exists and has been tested
By end of Fall 2026 (hard launch phase):
- Adoption — bubhub is the recognized go-to social planning platform among the student population at at least six campuses
- Team health — All campus teams are active, accountable, and performing against their goals
- Reporting — Weekly performance data is clean, reliable, and informing product and growth decisions
- Retention — Campus Lead turnover is minimal — teams feel supported, motivated, and invested in the outcome
- Expansion — Spring expansion target campuses have been identified and recruiting begins for Campus Leads there
Who We're Looking For
This role is right for you if:
- You're deeply embedded in your campus social ecosystem and understand how influence actually moves through it
- You've managed or coordinated other people before — formally or informally — and you know how to hold someone accountable without burning the relationship
- You think in systems: you don't just solve the problem in front of you, you figure out why it happened and how to prevent the next one
- You're comfortable operating with ambiguity — this is an early-stage startup, and the playbook is being written in real time
- You're a self-starter who treats goals as commitments, not suggestions
This role is not right for you if:
- You need detailed instructions and close supervision to stay productive
- You avoid difficult conversations — personnel accountability is a core part of this job
- You treat ambiguity as an excuse rather than a challenge
- You're more comfortable talking about strategy than executing it

(GPA is not a cutoff — we ask because we want an honest picture of who you are, not a filtered one.)
1. Walk me through what you've run or built on campus. Not what you've been part of — what you've been responsible for.
2. If you were starting bubhub at your university from scratch on June 1st with no users and no venues — what does your first week look like? Be specific.
3. What's the hardest thing you've ever had to tell someone who reported to or trusted you?
