Location: Washington, DC (In-office)
Duration: Three (3) months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and organizational needs
Schedule: Part-time (approximately 15–25 hours per week; some evening availability required for events)
Compensation: $17.95 per hour
Reports to: SVP, Business Strategy and Partnerships
Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the United States

AL-Monitor is a digital news and media publication operating on a subscription-based revenue model. We deliver original editorial content to a growing base of monthly and annual subscribers across web and mobile platforms. Our events convene policymakers, journalists, business leaders, and subject-matter experts to discuss critical issues shaping the Middle East and U.S. foreign policy.
Position Summary
AL-Monitor is seeking a highly organized and motivated Events Intern to support the planning and execution of our in-person, hybrid, and virtual programming in Washington, DC. This role provides hands-on experience in event logistics, and strategic programming within a fast-paced media organization.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and interested in media, public policy, or event management. This is an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to high-level convenings in the DC policy and media landscape.

Key Responsibilities
Event Planning & Logistics
- Assist with day-to-day coordination of event logistics
- Support venue research, vendor coordination, and production timelines
- Maintain RSVP lists,manage registration platforms, and create facesheets when required
- Prepare event materials, including run-of-show documents, briefing materials, name badges, and signage
- Track deadlines and assist with calendar management
Event Execution
- Provide on-site support for in-person events, including check-in and guest services
- Assist with virtual event management (Zoom/webinar platforms)
- Help ensure smooth event flow and troubleshoot minor logistical issues
Administrative & Strategic Support
- Conduct background research on prospective speakers, venues, and topics
- Support audience development initiatives, including tracking attendee data, maintaining contact lists, and assisting with outreach campaigns to grow event participation and subscriber engagement
- Assist with maintaining event budgets and vendor documentation
- Support post-event follow-up, including attendance tracking and reporting
- Help track sponsor deliverables when applicable
Qualifications
- Current undergraduate or graduate student, or recent graduate
- Strong interest in media, journalism, foreign policy, public affairs, or event management
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment
- High level of professionalism and discretion when interacting with policymakers, diplomatic representatives, and senior executives
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in dynamic, fast-paced environments
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace; familiarity with Pipedrive platform is a plus
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous internship or experience supporting events or conferences
- Familiarity with the Washington, DC policy and/or media landscape
- Experience with registration tools or virtual event platforms
