Student IT Consultant

We are currently recruiting for a student to join our team and provide technical support to the staff, faculty, and students. In this role, you'll gain valuable experience in IT troubleshooting and customer service, all while working in a supportive and collaborative environment. We offer flexible scheduling and the opportunity to develop sought-after IT skills. Initial appointment through end of the current school year, eligible for renewal.
Responsibilities:
- Answer client questions regarding commonly used systems, including the UCI data networks (wired and wireless), authentication and security, email, file storage, VPN, administrative applications, desktop & smartphone applications, and research software.
- Communicate with and refer clients as appropriate to HS and Campus IT departments after gaining an understanding of their needs.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues to find solutions, collect version and configuration information when necessary, and provide ad-hoc training to users.
- For more complex issues, carefully characterize problems to enable a quick and effective response from your supervisor or departmental technical expert.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Work-study award preferred
- Registered UCI student
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
- Ability to prioritize and organize effectively.
- Must be patient and customer-centric.
