Urban Fellow

We’re Hiring Urban Fellows at Keys 2 Success (Internship)

Are you a Newark local or someone with lived experience in urban communities who wants to invest in the next generation?

Keys 2 Success is expanding our team! We are a Newark-based nonprofit that brings piano instruction and music mentorship directly into the heart of our neighborhoods — searching for multiple Urban Fellows that want to make an impact and believe any child can succeed.

Job Overview

Urban Fellows serve as consistent, caring mentors who support students’ growth through music education and leadership development. The individual will assist in the delivery of weekly piano and music lessons, tracking student progress, and collaborating with the Keys 2 Success team to facilitate performances and community events. A significant portion of our student population includes boys ages 5–10, many of whom have limited access to consistent male role models. While we welcome applicants of all genders, we are especially seeking individuals who can serve as positive, reliable role models for this age group.

Basic piano skills and a passion for social impact are required.

What we’re looking for:

• Lived experience or work experience in urban communities like Newark’s.

• Has a passion and background in music, especially piano (basic proficiency).

• Previous experience with youth — coaching, babysitting, camp counseling, or similar.

• Believes every student has potential.

• Brings warmth, patience, and consistency.

• Open to high school and college students or recent graduates.

Term of hire

March 16, 2026 - August 31, 2027; renewal of term possible based on performance
