RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Assist faculty in US, World, or European history courses (both standard and writing intensive), on-campus (attend classes) or online. This may include, but it did not limit to, moderating online discussion boards, generating discussion questions for online or on campus discussions, creating exam questions, grading, doing research for projects and assignments, creating mini-lectures, helping students with projects, maintaining the gradebook, etc.
- Hold 8-10 office hours per week in consultation with the faculty mentor.
- Create out-of-class or online review sessions.
- Develop content to facilitate student learning.
- Maintain confidentiality of student records.
- Graduate assistants may be required to perform non-teaching departmental service assignments.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- BA/BS degree in hand by August 2026 and admission to the graduate program in History.
- Demonstration of effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong reference letters discussing the potential for success in the History graduate program for first-time applicants or strong TA performance evaluations for returning
- Admitted to a Minnesota State University, Mankato graduate program by start date.
- Enrolled in a minimum of six (6) graduate credits per semester during assistantship, and in good academic standing.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated ability for attention to detail, professionalism, and dependability.
- Demonstration of foundational knowledge in US, World, or European history.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
SALARY/STIPEND: Up to $10,000 plus tuition stipends, dependent upon availability of funds, period of appointment, and assignment. Appointments made after the tenth day of classes are not eligible for a tuition waiver.
RELATED INFORMATION:
Minnesota State System policy requires that graduate assistants must reside within the State of Minnesota for the duration of their appointment.
