Middle School History Teacher (AY26-27)
Summary Description:
Buckingham Browne & Nichols School is seeking a full-time Middle School History teacher. The BB&N Middle School consists of Grades 7 and 8. We are seeking a knowledgeable History teacher to teach three classes across both grades, who values student voice and agency, utilizes a variety of pedagogical approaches, and is excited to work as part of a team in curriculum development. Other faculty member responsibilities encompass advising in our co-curricular program, as well as community, athletic/coaching, and student life activities and program needs.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Key functions for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Planning and developing an engaging, age-appropriate course of study in the classroom, adhering to educational best practices and curriculum guidelines.
- Preparing materials for lessons, assignments, and tests; evaluates, corrects, and grades student performance.
- Supervising the behavior of students in the classroom, school grounds, and educational trips, and discussing academic difficulties or behavioral problems with students as they arise.
- Monitoring students' progress throughout the year and evaluating preparedness.
- Communicating progress and concerns with tact and professionalism to parents and, as appropriate, other faculty, staff, and/or campus Director.
- Building and maintaining positive relationships with parents, students, and colleagues.
- Enforcing safety and security standards for students, staff, and visitors.
- Maintaining required paperwork for individual student files, attendance and incident reports, and other necessary records.
- Monitoring halls, study periods, and lunchrooms with other faculty and staff.
- Participating in faculty meetings, educational conferences, in-service opportunities, workshops, and other training seminars.
- Maintaining knowledge of research, developments, and best practices.
- Performing related tasks such as sponsoring student activities or organizations, including athletics.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements, Skills, and Competencies:
The ideal candidate will have a degree in History or a related field. A Bachelor's degree is required. While a Master’s Degree in history and at least four years of experience teaching history at the middle school level is preferred, we understand that not every great teacher’s path to teaching is a straight line.

- Demonstrate dedication to supporting adolescent growth and development and promoting a growth mindset.
Salary: $69,500.00 - $115,754.00
BB&N offers competitive salaries and benefits, employing equitable and consistent compensation practices. The starting salary for any hired candidate is based on experience within salary bands (0-30 years).
