Recycling Specialist

Pay: $28.04 - $33.00 per hour

Award-winning recycling and sustainable solid waste agency seeks energetic, versatile professional to join our team. Entry level opportunity with the Onondaga County Resource Recovery Agency’s recycling team. Working within Onondaga County with businesses, apartment complexes and public facilities to improve recycling practices. Ideal candidate is a self-starter who is adaptable to changing circumstances and who supports OCRRA’s mission and program outreach efforts. The work involves participating in public information efforts by assisting the recycling team in promoting the recycling program. The successful candidate will possess exemplary communication and computer skills. The position requires some travel throughout Onondaga County, candidate should provide reliable transportation.

Minimum qualifications for candidates: An associate’s degree and 2 years work experience in resource recovery, solid waste management, business administration, marketing, public relations or communications; or, 4 years work experience in the aforementioned areas.

The position is a provisional civil service appointment. Some assignments occur during weekend and evening hours.
