Special Education Teacher- 11 months

Position: Full Time Special Education Teacher
Grade Level: Elementary 
Start Date: 7/1/2026 – 11 month position (off the month of August)

JOB DESCRIPTION: Haworth Public School is seeking a dedicated and skilled Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting students with diverse learning needs and be committed to providing high-quality, individualized instruction in a collaborative school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) with fidelity, ensuring alignment with student goals and accommodations
  • Develop and deliver individualized and small-group instruction using evidence-based practices
  • Create measurable goals and objectives that are developmentally appropriate and aligned to student abilities
  • Write clear, data-driven Present Levels of Academic Achievement and Functional Performance (PLAAFPs)
  • Utilize Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies, including discrete trial instruction, as appropriate
  • Collect and analyze student data to monitor progress and adjust instruction
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families
  • Maintain compliance with all state and federal special education regulations

 

Qualifications:

  • Valid Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TOSWD) certification or equivalent
  • Training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
  • Experience implementing discrete trials
  • Demonstrated experience with IEP implementation
  • Proven ability to create goals and objectives aligned to individual student needs
  • Experience writing PLAAFPs
  • CPI and/or Safety Care certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Experience working in inclusive, self-contained, or specialized program settings

 

Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.

Annual salary range: $61,000 to $85,000, commensurate upon experience/degree(s).
