Science and Water Quality Management Intern
The Delaware River Basin Commission (DRBC) is seeking 2 intern candidates to support its Science and Water Quality Management mission. One part-time to full-time paid positions that provide excellent hands-on experience and on-the-job training with senior staff across a variety of environmental science and water quality management skills. The DRBC is additionally seeking one 1-year-round intern. Minimum pay is $16.00/hour, possibly more with experience.
Job Duties include (but not limited to):
- Environmental sample collection in the field anywhere within the Delaware River Basin
- Water quality monitoring (including potential overnight stays for fieldwork)
- Water quality meter calibration
- Field preparation and sample processing
- Chain-of-custody procedures and sample maintenance
- Data review, QA/QC, and assessment
Requirements:
- Must be a college student or recent graduate in a science or engineering curriculum related to an environmental or water resources field
- Must have flexible availability
- Must have driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation for office and field
- Must have computer at home with internet for some remote work as needed
- Must be capable of performing manual work in challenging field environments, including:
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Must be able to swim
- Must be comfortable in and around water
- Boat operator experience or certification is a plus
- Must have experience in Excel; data analysis using R or Python is a plus
