Role Description

We are seeking an advanced Economics student (Senior Undergraduate or Master’s level) to lead the pre-commercialization strategy for our proprietary Fleet Management Software. This is a high-impact role focused on transforming a technical intellectual property (IP) asset into a market-ready financial product. You will lead the identification of third-party commercialization firms to manage our sales engine, map the venture capital landscape, and quantify the economic utility of our platform for global stakeholders.

This program has been an incredibly valuable and enriching experience, offering hands-on exposure and real-world insights that are rarely available at this stage. One of the most unique aspects is the opportunity to be mentored directly by the CEO, gaining firsthand guidance, strategic perspective, and leadership insights that are invaluable for long-term growth. Importantly, this is the final session in which the program will be conducted, making it a truly exclusive opportunity that will not be repeated in the future.

 

Key Responsibilities


Conduct market research on the fleet management, transportation, and SaaS industries to identify emerging trends, customer needs, and commercialization opportunities.
Perform competitive analyses to benchmark comparable fleet management solutions, pricing models, feature sets, and market positioning. Analyze industry data to identify market gaps and opportunities that support commercialization strategy.


Commercialization Strategy:

Research and evaluate third-party commercialization firms, channel partners, and Sales-as-a-Service providers capable of supporting market entry and customer acquisition. 

Assess potential commercialization partners based on industry expertise, transportation and logistics market access, distribution capabilities, and demonstrated success with software products.
Compare commercialization models (e.g., licensing, strategic partnerships, revenue-sharing, or reseller agreements) and provide recommendations based on financial and strategic considerations.


Economic Value Analysis:
Develop data-driven business cases demonstrating the economic value of the company's fleet management platform.
Build financial models that estimate Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) savings, operational efficiencies, and Return on Investment (ROI) for prospective customers.
Translate technical product capabilities into measurable business outcomes that support commercialization efforts.


Strategic Research & Executive Support
Prepare research summaries, market intelligence reports, and executive presentations to support strategic planning and commercialization initiatives.
Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership while incorporating feedback into future analyses.
Develop critical thinking, business research, and strategic communication skills through mentorship from executive leadership.

 

Qualifications

  • Education
    • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's (Junior or Senior) or master’s degree in Economics, Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, Supply Chain Management, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • Research & Analytical Skills:
    • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to evaluate market trends, competitors, and business opportunities.
    • Experience conducting secondary research using academic journals, industry reports, and online databases.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data organization, analysis, and reporting; familiarity with data visualization tools is a plus.
    • Ability to synthesize research findings into clear, concise reports and executive summaries.
  • Business & Commercial Knowledge
    • Understanding of market research, competitive analysis, and commercialization strategies.
    • Familiarity with business models, customer value propositions, and market positioning concepts.
    • Interest in the transportation, logistics, SaaS, or technology industries is preferred but not required.
    • Ability to analyze business problems and recommend practical, data-driven solutions.
  • Communication & Professional Skills:
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present research findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
    • Comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams while working independently on assigned research initiatives.
    • Demonstrates curiosity, professionalism, adaptability, and a willingness to learn through mentorship and constructive feedback.
  • Preferred (Not Required):
    • Experience with Microsoft PowerPoint, Tableau, Power BI, or similar presentation and visualization tools.
    • Previous coursework or project experience involving market research, business strategy, economics, or data analysis.
    • Interest in commercialization, product strategy, or business consulting.holders.
    • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
    • Must be motivated students, eager to make a meaningful transition from academic life to professional settings. 
       

Internship Details:

  • Our flexible internship program is centered on mentorship, innovation, and project-based learning, empowering interns to gain valuable experience in a dynamic professional environment.
  • All applicants MUST be a university senior or above.
  • We are a Canadian-based company.
  • All positions are remote.
  • We require mandatory meeting availability (depending on your role).
  • Work hours are based in MST (Mountain Standard Time).
