Supply Chain Intern

JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective: 

The Supply Chain Intern will support day-to-day supply chain and operations activities within a high-volume, dynamic manufacturing environment. This role is designed to provide hands-on exposure to core supply chain functions including purchasing, supplier management, production planning, and warehouse operations. The intern will work cross-functionally with Customer Service, Operations, Engineering, and Quality to gain a holistic understanding of how the business operates while contributing meaningful analytical and operational support.

This position is ideal for a motivated student seeking practical experience in a regulated manufacturing environment, including exposure to quality management systems and AS9100 requirements.

Essential Functions

  • Assist with production planning, including the creation and maintenance of production schedules to support on-time delivery.
  • Support purchasing and supplier management activities, including creating and managing Purchase Order schedules and tracking supplier performance.
  • Analyze operational data to support capacity planning, inventory management, and lead time accuracy.
  • Track and report key supply chain and operational metrics, identifying trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Support warehouse operations, including material flow, inventory accuracy, and process efficiency.
  • Create and update standard work instructions, process documentation, and visual aids to support standardized processes.
  • Support lead time commitments for customer quotes and order in collaboration with the Planning team, Customer Service and Operations.
  • Participate in cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Operations, Customer Service, and Quality to understand product flow from order entry through shipment.
  • Gain exposure to the company’s Quality Management System (QMS), including documentation control and AS9100 requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within supply chain and operations.

Work Environment

  • Combination of Office, Manufacturing and Warehouse environment
  • May require, lifting 50+lbs., standing, twisting, bending.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP/MRP systems is a plus.
