Drury Depression Institute Student Assistant

appThe Noel Drury, M.D. Institute for Translational Depression Discoveries is a newly established research institute at UC Irvine. The institute leverages UCI’s strengths in biology, medicine, engineering and social sciences to facilitate an interdisciplinary approach to advancing research in depression. What You’ll Do: The Student Assistant will help with a variety of administrative tasks for the Drury Depression Institute. Tasks will include:

  • Front desk duties; answering general emails, greeting institute guests and visitors
  • Supporting Finance and Accounting processes, including purchasing and reimbursements 
  • Supporting Academic Affairs processes, including preparing new hire & renewal paperwork and work authorization documents
  • Assisting with institute events, marketing & outreach communications, helping with travel and scheduling for visiting speakers
  • Updating and maintaining the institute’s website
  • Helping with data entry and documentation for institute processes, managing digital files in the shared drive and share point

 

What You’ll Learn: You’ll gain an insider understanding of how a major research university operates, working closely with the administrative team to support a growing interdisciplinary research institute. You’ll interact with faculty and staff across multiple departments and schools at UCI, experiencing the collaborative nature of academic research and administration. You will develop familiarity with university and UC policies, procedures and compliance requirements. You’ll also build skills that will be transferable to many career paths including communication, organization and time management, finances and procurement, human resources, marketing, and general administration. 

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Attentive to details, reliable, organized, independent worker
  • Comfortable with filling out paperwork, spreadsheets, handling digital documents
  • Comfortable with email and verbal communications

All undergraduate majors are welcome to apply!

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of website management
  • Prior experience working at a university department/unit or similar administrative position 

 

Schedule: Up to 8-10 hours per week, flexible. Our office is open M-F from 9am-5pm.
