Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a secondary Science Teacher or relevant role
  • Comprehensive knowledge of current pedagogical skills and teaching and management methodologies
  • Experience working with children with a wide range of needs
  • Valid New York State certification in any Science Certification 7-12 or in a program leading to certification
  • Preferred: Additional science certification area

 

Essential Duties:

Albion Central School District is seeking a passionate and dedicated High School Science Teacher to inspire and educate students in the field of science. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Science, excellent classroom management skills, and the ability to develop engaging lesson plans that foster critical thinking and scientific inquiry. This position involves teaching various levels of Science, including general Science, Regents-level courses, and potential advanced or elective offerings.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, rigorous Science lessons aligned with state standards.
  • Teach fundamental and advanced Science concepts, including geology, meteorology, astronomy, and oceanography.
  • Design and facilitate hands-on laboratory experiments to enhance student learning.
  • Integrate technology and digital resources to support instruction and student engagement.
  • Assess student progress through assignments, exams, and projects, providing constructive feedback.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages curiosity and scientific exploration.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary learning experiences.
  • Prepare students for standardized tests, college readiness, and future careers in science.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate progress with parents and guardians.
  • Support the administration in implementing district policies and school regulations related to student life and conduct.
  • Attend scheduled meetings and serve on district and school committees.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and district requirements by maintaining accurate and complete records.
  • Pursue professional growth through ongoing reading, workshops, seminars, and conferences.
  • Regularly grade assignments and provide timely feedback to help students track their progress and address challenges early.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal or district administrator.
